Empowering Student Success Career Lab powered by GM Financial
Thanks to the generosity of longtime partner GM Financial, UTSA's University Career Center (UCC) has transformed part of its front lobby into the Career Lab powered by GM Financial — a dedicated communal space where students can receive guidance from career consultants on anything related to their professional interests and pursuits.
CAREER EXPLORATION & PREPARATION Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement
The Najim Center was established in 2020 by local entrepreneur and philanthropist Harvey E. Najim. Najim wanted to create a space where all students could access resources for career exploration and preparation and discover experiential learning opportunities. In 2022, Najim committed another $2 million gift to expand the center’s reach, build its network in downtown San Antonio, and provide more students with hands-on learning experiences.
COMING SOON San Pedro II - Supporting Innovation & Entrepreneurship
Opening in 2025, San Pedro II will allow UTSA to draw on the broad opportunities that exist in San Antonio to address the city’s pressing workforce needs, to connect UTSA students with experiential learning and career-engagement opportunities, and to provide training to prepare students for careers in interdisciplinary fields such as cybersecurity, computer and data sciences.
Coming Soon A New College Dedicated to Artificial Intelligence
UTSA is reshaping its academic landscape for the future with the creation of a new college dedicated to AI, cybersecurity, computing, data science and related disciplines. The college, which is expected to open in 2025 and to be the first of its kind in the country, positions UTSA to lead in the rapidly evolving landscape of advanced technologies.
National Recognition UTSA’s investments in national centers of excellence have attracted federal funding and renown talent to our region - not to mention national recognition.
UTSA’s Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII) is a public-private partnership with the Department of Energy that aims to protect American manufacturers and their supply chains from cyberattacks while also securing and sustaining American leadership in the global manufacturing marketplace.
UTSA’s National Security Collaboration Center (NSCC) is a collaborative ecosystem of government, industry and academic partners advancing a shared responsibility to solve the nation’s grandest issues surrounding cybersecurity.

CASE STUDY Creating A Sustainable Aviation Hub in San Antonio
UTSA is playing a key role in bringing federal and city braintrusts together to develop energy technologies that could potentially decarbonize the aviation sector. The project—a partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy Advanced Research Projects Agency–Energy (ARPA-E), the City of San Antonio, and CPS Energy—will position San Antonio as an innovation center for these new energy solutions.
