A Powerful Data Intelligence Ecosystem Supporting San Antonio, Texas, and the Nation

UTSA has designed a data and innovation ecosystem unlike any other in Texas. Our Downtown Campus’s newest building, San Pedro I, currently houses the School of Data Science and National Security Collaboration Center, and serves as the future site of UTSA’s new College of AI, Cyber and Computing. Its sister building, San Pedro II, will open in early 2026 and will serve as a hub for Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Careers and expanded programs from the Alvarez College of Business.

UTSA's Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyManII) is a public-private partnership supported by the Department of Energy. CyManII is helping Texan and American manufacturers protect their supply chains from cyberattacks and become more energy-efficient to secure global competitiveness.

Opened in January 2023, UTSA’s School of Data Science and National Security Collaboration Center host over 400 students and serve as the home of 30 world-class faculty members. Its 84,500 square feet of classroom, laboratory and research space supports science, engineering, technology, business and more future-focused programs in the heart of San Antonio.

Building Partnerships

UTSA’s cyber ecosystem, including assets like the National Security Collaboration Center, are at the heart of the university's ability to forge major partnerships that address key challenges. Examples range from UTSA’s role in the U.S. Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium, which brings together government, university and industry researchers, AI creators and users and community groups to support the development and deployment of trustworthy and safe AI.

Securing Small Businesses

As cyber threats continue to evolve and target small businesses, Texas is taking steps to fortify these enterprises through a comprehensive suite of cybersecurity services provided by the  (TSBCAC). Led by the UTSA Small Business Development Center, will provide accessible and expert cybersecurity services to small businesses across Texas.

Strengthening Manufacturing

As the energy manufacturing sector continues to grow in importance within our daily lives, so does its vulnerability to threats. This is the basis for CyManII’s partnership with The Cyber Readiness Institute (CRI). Through a co-managed pilot program, this initiative helps strengthen our nation’s defenses against evolving cyber threats by providing essential support and resources for small and medium-sized manufacturers.
