UTSA is Creating Bold Futures

What does BOLD look like at UTSA?

UTSA represents the future of higher education, preparing graduates for the in-demand careers of today and tomorrow. With a focus on career-engaged learning, students build connections and skills that prepare them to lead their communities and our state forward.

Bold Is... SUCCEEDING INSIDE AND OUTSIDE THE CLASSROOM

First Gen Focus

45% of UTSA students — like Anna Almaraz — are the first in their families to attend college. From starting her own business at 15 years old to currently pursuing her M.B.A. in entrepreneurship and leadership, Anna is empowered by her UTSA education.

Bold Is... GAINING NATIONAL ATTENTION FOR PIONEERING RESEARCH

UTSA faculty are doing research that will change our South Texas communities — and our world — for the better. UTSA saw a record high $173.2 million in R&D expenditures in FY 2024 with studies that advance the fields of biomedicine, cybersecurity, sustainability, social transformation and more.

Reaching New Heights as a Carnegie R1 University

UTSA’s Tier One classification for research puts us in the top 4.7% of universities nationwide. This prestigious classification attracts research dollars, world-class faculty and the talented students who want to learn from them.

As San Antonio’s only Tier One institution — and one of the few Hispanic Serving Institutions in the U.S. that also claims the Carnegie R1 classification — UTSA is a national model for public research universities that drive economic development and prosperity for their communities.

Bold Is... BUILDING TEXAS' WORKFORCE

TSA’s major investment in classroom-to-career initiatives means our graduates are career-ready. As a result, Texas’ leading employers actively seek out Roadrunners for internships and jobs. That's one reason why 91% of UTSA students stay in Texas after graduation.

The Najim Center for Innovation and Career Advancement allows students to get hands-on experience while San Pedro II , opening in 2025, will connect students with opportunities in our local community. Combined with other initiatives and investments, these spaces are part of UTSA’s experiential learning hub downtown.
